Here are some pictures of the COFDM transmitters and receivers, operating at 2.5 GHz, that PM Microwave supplied to the New Zealand TV company for the 2003 edition of the America's Cup.
For that event PM supplied 16 COFDM transmitters and 16 COFDM receivers able to transmit audio and video digital signals from the yachts to the receivers installed in the TVNZ tower in Auckland.
Each yacht was equipped with two COFDM transmitters mounted on a proper roll-bar positioned astern.
Several cameras and microphones installed on board and on the helicopter allowed
to film, directly from the yachts, exciting scenes of the crews engaged in difficult operation.
Full broadcast quality was guaranteed by high quality MPEG-2 video encoding, high technology COFDM and RF reliability.
Ultra small size and very low power consumption were extremely important, as well, because, on these yachts, every detail "makes the difference".
16 COFDM receivers were installed in the TVNZ (TV New Zealand) receiving centre to receive "live" the
signals from the race field far 30 km in the Auracky Bay. The New Zealand state television provided then
to broadcast the images all over the world.

2007 America's
Cup
Thanks
to the Swiss team of Alinghi the "Cup" has come back to Europe, where was missing since
the 1851. The next edition of America's Cup will take place again, in the
2007, in Spain in the sea in front of Valencia and we hope to be able to supply our equipment
for that event, too.
Luna Rossa's team has formalized the agreement with the "Genoa Yacht Club", that is the
most ancient Yacht Club of the Mediterranean Sea. According to the race regulation it is
necessary to be enrolled to a Yacht Club to partecipate in the America's Cup.
